Share your memories...
Since retirement has come into my life I have gotten much more involved with my quilting and using my long arm sewing machine and I found this great idea on a blogg that I read and decided to think about incorporating this into my quilting.  sounds wonderfully easy to use.
Today I have to adjust my bobbin on the machine as it is making terrible noises.. I hope it isn't anything real serious as then I will have to get it serviced...and that could be very expensive.
The quilt I am working on is for Nicole & Ross's Wedding we attended last month and I have it about 2/3 done.  It really is turning out very nice...and as projects go...it morphs into the final picture that stunns me each time I have finished a quilt on the longarm.  Just makes all the difference in the final product.  I am hooked to say the least.

Before I started doing the quilting..on the design wall!

The way it is turning out is pretty...just using alot of thread.

a close up.  I was just going to put a single line through the log cabin design, and then decided it looked much too plain...so put the circles into the squares to make it better...it did make it prettier and much more detailed.  I do like it alot more!  Once you are into the quilting part, you are pretty much dedicated to the orginal design you choose..as it would be impossible to rip out....so it is what it is.

I am getting more experienced as I continue in this craft.  Just gets me into a zone and I do Love it...but usually 2 hours at a stretch is all I can do..

Here is the chocolate cake I made for Eric's B-Day and sent it to him for his 34th B-Day.  It turned out just absolutely delicious and yet only sent him one of the cakes...We kept one for me to eat...gave one to Teresa Jo & Mike, and one to Sharon hohberg for her 71st B-Day on the 22nd.  That is when I made them...and sent Eric's package on Tuesday the 23rd..so he 'd get it in time for his bday.  Sharon said she at the whole thing by herself...loved it... and Teresa Jo and Mike liked it alot...Mike espescially mentioned how much he liked it... and I ate the 3rd one  by all  by myself.  that is hard to resist when it came out perfect.  I used the Friendship Fruit that I have been cooking for a month or two...and was so glad that I did.  Another word for the Friendship Fruit is "Pruno"~~~ what they make in prisons...for that reason...Mack won't touch it...He missed out big time ...it was special!

Found a new app called "Lensicle" and have been using it to make my pictures into pieces of art!  it is so fun to mess with... I could get lost into the whole concept  .Love it...check it out.

Going to this concert on Saturday  evening ..Mack was gonna go..but decided he couldn't go because of Molly and couldn't leave her alone here over 8 hours... I understand but wish he would have found a solution to the problem.  It is what it is..Should be a fantastic preformance.!!

Love this quote..found it on FB this week.. it is so very very true! Sweet it happens in animals also!

My Plants are doing so well this year since I discovered a new way to take care of them...I use 1 gallon of water, 1 TBS Miracle grow,  & 3 TBS of Epson Salts...and stir it and drench the plants almost every time I water them now... makes the petunias go wild and the spider plants get so very very green...I will always use this method of watering plants now...wish I had known it long long ago.  I love my plants.

Here are my nieces twins..with their new Violin and Vieola which they are learning at school.  They are so very proud of their new interest...and I do think they will do well at this age.  My niece decided to do this for them regardless of the expense as it is timing for them to be exposed to these new interests that will affect the rest of their life.  I changed the picture with Lensicle.

We had sad news a few weeks ago that a old employee  from Raleys took her life. I had just seen her 3 weeks before at Walmart..and she seemed fine.  She had a daughter in college...and was going thru a divorce..much harder than I thought she was taking it... She told me she was going to College and doing postitive things... Christy Starr will be very muchly missed in our community.  ::(((

This is Molly the very 1st morning that Mack went to work @ NorCal...He decided working is much better than sitting home worrying about the house selling...and I am enjoying the quiet now..no more violin playing...he is a super busy guy now...Loves his new project being a Human Resource's person.  Great pay and benefits will come with it if they like him.  ::))

This is for my Bonnie Jo...she loved Ying and Yang....My new Age Child... She was such a sweet heart and I miss her....She isn't really gone completely...We just can't see her anymore...  I firmly believe in my heart she is nearby alot....

Found this pool for TJ and Mike at a Garage sale 2 weeks ago...for $30 She was tickled to get it...I paid $5, and TJ paid for the rest... I wanted to do something for her...I can't do alot...but alittle once in a while is it.
These soaker hoses were free...I grabbed them for TJ

This Ivy doggie is in the San Fernando Valley where I use to live...on Havenhurst and Plummer Streets.. I want to see it the next time I am down there...Soooo Coool!
Well guess that is it for this week....
Signing off...

Good Morning World!...

Ok...there is nothing quite like getting a letter from a good friend.;..but next to that is a fantastic great long phone visit...I had plans to call a longtime friend today and got sidelined by getting home from Church late, and then Mack really wanted to go on a hike @ Greenhorn Park...4 mile hike at least... and halfway down the mountian I realized I had forgotten to call my friend...so quickly as we got back home texted her and of course I had missed the timing to chat...so we rescheduled our visit til later...which is ok...all due to my thoughtlessness --as I just got sidelined...

(This is Dan and Mack when we were in Paradise @ Dan & Patti's home for a  week's vacation! was really fun!)

Funny thing though,....when Sharon dropped me off from Church ...told her to just let me walk the driveway and that was good...I got to the keypad and couldn't remember the gate code!!!  I never put in the code cause I use a remote...so I tried every ### under the sun to no avail...and also saw another little tiny button under all the ###s too and pushed that too!   haha haha...then nothing worked at all and I was stuck...fine and dandly...I had to call Mack in the house and tell him my stupid deliema and ask for his help... He was not a happy camper and did rescue me...but wasn't happy how I went about my problem...said I didn't use logical thinking...  well, now I will in the future, cause I put the ##'s in my note pad on my Iphone...so I will refer to that if I can't bring it to mind... I really find it strange because when I was working all I did was with ##s all day long and I had not too many problems remembering all the codes and procedures then... I have just gotten brain lazy now I think... I have to work on that alittle more...too relaxed sometimes... but you just have to lean into it...and embrace those funny incidents and laugh...it was truly funny and I was kinda surprised I could be so un=prepared for the whole incident.  crazy Bette Jo...only happen to me...haha..  Mack fixed it with molly's help!

Soooooo.....got no sewing done today and yesterday at all...and will try maybe after dinner tonight...or tomorrow morning.  halfway thru the log cabin quilt now...and getting anxious to get her done.  I love it the way it is turning out...totally original BETTE JO designs in it...it truly is an original....I've just been wingggggginn it all the way thru it... I just seem to work that way on big projects...and that is the beauty of quilting...each one is individually created.....and no 2 are alike, like us too.    Really love this combination hobby of quilting...because it combines my love for the artistic capabilities, and also my love for using up my stash of scraps....it is exciting and I love it...but I do miss people too.

This past week I started babysitting @ Tuesday morning Bible study @ Grenada Church.  I got my fill of excitment with little Ava (5 months) and Emma 2 and Isaac 4, and they were precious angels to watch... enjoyed each and every minute of the time.    That is the biggest first change for me since retirement started... I want to get alittle more involved with kids @ church.
So last Wednesday the 17the was my Big Springs day..and had such a lovely day with TJ and visited Debbie briefly also.  think I posted about that in my last post.
Yesterday I had a bright Idea to hunt down some pattern and Grey Fleece material..in the back of my material closet ....so did that late afternoon and before I knew it I had the whole closet strung out all over the downstairs area and found what I needed and re-arranged everything and decided what I need to do for either Eric's Bday or for his Christmas present...won't say what it is...but it is something I have been putting on the back burner forever.....so will get it done ....Love having time to do things like this now.

I talked Mack into going garage saleing late yesterday also...guess that is where my day went really, and we only went to about 4 or 5 of them...not too many this weekend.  didn't get much...but had a interesting time bouncing around Yreka with Mack... He drives and I navigate...haha...I am not the navigator that I use to be...or how my Mom was....or how Nancey Joy is....Mack is really a great Navigator...but he likes to drive and can't do both...so off we go ...and i usually get a few snide remarks about not being able to turn off the lady's voice on "Maps"....haha...she is persistent.
I did score some free stuff...3 or 4 soaker hoses for TJ's garden...a possible swimming pool for her  that is 12 ft x 18 " high...for 30 bucks...Tj was excited about that.  still haven't gone back to get it but will sometime this week before I go out to visit TJ next time.  She will probably be able to use it next summer when the heat gets really bad out there.   Made me excited to find that.  God is good all the time and  All the time God is good!  PTL...
doe on our front lawn...

a picture of the big fires this summer ...this taken in Weed, before the Boles Fire!

Also....got a good long phone chat in with Pamela Lockwood today..she called and was perfect timing to catch up...we have been emailing more lately because she has all her children and grandchildren nearby her and her life is very full and exciting with events and fun.  So it was wonderful catching up as it has been 2 or 3 montbs since our last catch up.  Good she called me because I didn't want to disturb or get in the middle of when they are busy.  Made my heart smile!
Eric did call last Sunday when we were on our way back from Grass Valley...and dummy me I had my phone on silent and didn't heard it ring...when I called back he didn't pick up so...guess I am not able to catch up for a few ....he is such a busy dad now and they always have so much going on.  They seem to be loving it back there in Virginia!  I want to go visit so badly.!! Love you Eric and Nicole, and Jayla, and Marcus!...we will get back there eventually!
Here are some pictures of Ross & Nicole's Wedding Sept 6th, 2014 that we attended. the reception was in their huge Barn..it was Lovely and enjoyed the family, good time  and friends there!  Wish I has taken more pictures!

wellll guess that is all for now...  Oh yeah,  Mack is interviewing for a possible full time job...they had him back for a second interview...but no job offer yet...and he is excited about the possibility of making some decent money again.  Life has been alittle tight for us in  this retirement stage...guess that is all excitement for the week and guess that is enough....makes for a great ,  fun, filled week...never a dull moment when I am there....why is that?  has to be my view on life that my mom and dad instilled in my heart...many funny things to remember someday..!
Gotta run and think about making a cabbage salad with, candied walnuts, green onions, with mustard vinegarette & blue cheese also in it... it is one of our good clean eating salads..that is not too hard to make and lasts a few days.  Mack likes that one at least......and I do too!  so that is success and I found it on Pinterest/Blogg......yippee...
